WWSC internal calls
To support the research and activities in the center, WWSC has launched internal calls. See below for details on each call.
WWSC Lighthouse projects
The Wallenberg Wood Science Center now invites proposals for Lighthouse projects. Lighthouse projects have been defined as integrated initiatives designed to support impact-oriented research and innovation for sustainable development (Marcel Tanner President, Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences). Their core purpose is to serve as beacons that guide society through complex sustainability challenges – often referred to as “wicked problems” – by producing actionable knowledge and fostering societal transformation. These projects aim to build closer alliances between science, policy, and society, typically through the co-production of knowledge where researchers and non-academic stakeholders work together to ensure results are societally pertinent and practically useful.
Deadline August 31, 2026
WWSC Industrial postdoc program
An industrial postdoc conducts advanced research for two years while employed by a company, in either the private or public sector.

WWSC Travel support
To support internationalization, WWSC invites PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to apply for travel funding to support international collaborations, knowledge exchange and active conference participation (poster/oral).
Internationalization experiences, such as conferences and research exchanges, are crucial for excellent research as they provide researchers with new perspectives, methods, and scientific cultures that strengthen the quality, relevance, and originality. International experiences also create networks and collaborations that enable access to complementary expertise, shared infrastructure, and broader academic dialogue, all of which are essential for research with international impact.
