My major area of interest is enzyme discovery and carbohydrate enzymology, as it relates to the microbial degradation of complex biopolymers in natural and industrial settings. I have an interest in the sustainable production of exciting new biomaterials, especially in the context of the WWSC. I am involved in WWSC projects using enzymes to modify or fractionate biomass and biomass-derived polymers, and in projects that use enzymes to study the stucture of carbohydrates.
