WWSC Research program WWSC ( – 2023)

The research within WWSC is focused on the development of wood nanoscience and nanotechnology for sustainable bio-based materials. It comprises research on nanocellulose, nanostructured wood fibers, modified wood, and other components, such as lignin and hemicelluloses. Research is also conducted on technologies for extraction and modification, as well as material systems from wood biopolymers, including wood-based electronics.

Thematically divided into five programs, the WWSC overall research program aims for scientific excellence through acquiring a fundamental understanding of complex phenomena, alongside the development of novel materials with extended property range and functionality, based on forest resources.

WWSC Research and Sustainability

Through the core of the research activities in the center, WWSC is directly addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals 12, 9, 7, 6 and 3.
