Scientific: Identify novel environmentally friendly routes, i.e., separation, characterization and derivatization processes, to bark based materials.

Technical: Validate bark components in renewable materials. Hence, evaluate bark components such as micro- and nano-scale cellulose in novel renewable material-based applications, and moreover, investigate further properties and structural details of the Norway spruce lignin.
