Research area:
1) Wood Chemistry:Conducting research on plant cell wall polymers with the end goal of gaining fundamental knowledge on their biosynthesis, molecular associations and reactivity.
2) Lignocellulose Biorefinery: Developing fundamental understanding on chemical and physical properties contributing to biomass recalcitrance to fractionation.
3) Lignin valorization: Conducting fundamental research of relevance to lignin-based materials, e.g. how the structure and mass of molelecular lignin affect the thermomechanical properties.
4) Developing fundamental knowledge on processing concepts to obtain high quality lignins; an essential milestone for lignin valorization.
