Minna Hakkarainen

My research interest in sustainable polymers includes biobased, degradable and/or recyclable polymers for packaging biomedical and environmental applications. I am especially interested in degradation of polymers and understanding their interactions with different environments to enable design of materials for different service-life and life-cycles. Recent years a major research focus was valorization of polymer and biomass waste to functional chemicals and carbon materials, especially by utilizing microwave processes, and further utilization of these for design of new functional materials and products.
