Project: Degradation of biopolymers, bioplastics and biocomposites in real, stimulated or accelerated natural environments
Supervisor: Minna Hakkarainen
Project planned to end: 07/2021

Research area:

Due to the durability of classical polymers, they have become ubiquitous environmental pollutants. Although proper waste management is the first step to solve this problem, for some applications polymers that are more benign to environmental degradation. But we still have limited understanding over the structure-degradability relationships. In this project, we are investigating how the modification of biobased materials influences their degradability in different environments.
