Project: Design of sustainable thermoplastic elastomers from wood-based components
Supervisor: Karin Odelius
Project planned to end: 2023-03-07

Research area:

Vanillin represents a very promising aromatic renewable building block for the preparation of sustainable polymeric materials. The presence of an aromatic aldehyde moiety along with a phenol offers huge opportunities for the synthesis of a plethora of different kinds of polymers. In this context, novel vanillin derivatives can be envisaged as potential hard blocks in the preparation of sustainable thermoplastic elastomers when combined with soft block architectures.
