The young researchers in KAW’s program Wallenberg Academy fellows recieve a generous 5-year funding for research covering the natural sciences, medicine, technology, the humanities, and social science, and a unique mentor program.
For the 2023 program, assosiate professor Mika Sipponen is one of the 31 selected researchers.
In his research, Mika Sipponen will investigate the possibility of using lignin in hybrid materials with microorganisms. By including microorganisms, such as yeast and fungi, the hope is to get functional materials for e.g., water purification.
