Start of the next generation of WWSC Academy

End of October the first course in the next WWSC Academy starts. The graduate school aims at giving the participants both an overview of the research field and a network for future collaborations.

The graduate school has since the start of WWSC been a vital part of the center. With the start of the first course in October the next phase of the graduate school begins, and with that the education of a new generation PhD students.

”We want to prepare you to become next generation scientists, inventors, and engineers that will meet tomorrow´s need in the Swedish forest value chain” says Anette Larsson, Director of WWSC Academy.

Together with the deputy directors Lauren McKee and Igor Zozoulenko, a course program that covers everything from characterization techniques to organic electronics has been presented. New for this batch of WWSC Academy is the possibility to choose a  module in some of the courses, making the courses even more relevant for the participants.

“We are really looking forward to meet all of you new PhD students and welcoming you to the first course that will give you an introduction to the field and the center” says Anette.

The first course, mandatory for all PhD students in WWSC,  is held at Skytteholm, Ekerö, just outside Stockholm, and will give an introduction to WWSC and WWSC Academy.

Open for Treesearch participants

Just like the previous WWSC Academy, PhD students within Treesearch are welcome to participate.

”As Treesearch PhD student you’ll be a part of the WWSC Academy network and get to participate in the courses throughout the period, as well as in the WWSC conferences.“ says Gunnar Westman, Deputy director Education in Treesearch.

This period the Treesearch PhD students will apply for participating in the full WWSC Academy program, rather than as last period for specific courses. The once admitted have thereby a secured spot in the future WWSC Academy courses as well as in the center’s internal conferences.

The number of available Treesearch spots are limited, and application is done via treesearch.se.
