WWSC research at Tekniska museet

Materials from Wallenberg Wood Science Center are part of the Tekniska museet’s new exhibition the Forest, which opened May 18. “We have invited WWSC to showcase cutting-edge research to spark interest and elevate the discussion about the materials of the future”, says Jenny Attemark, curator and project manager at the museum.

The exhibition the Forest at the Tekniska museet (the National Museum of Science and Technology) highlights different aspects of the forest, on the themes of value, ownership, time and innovation. In the innovation section of the exhibition, the visitors can experience examples from the research in WWSC among the selected forest-based innovations.

“With the Forest, we want to discuss the various values of the forest for people, society, and the environment. How the forest is utilized is of central importance. We have invited WWSC to showcase cutting-edge research to spark interest and elevate the discussion about the materials of the future”, says Jenny Attemark, curator and project manager at the museum.

“By collaborating with the museum, WWSC has a fantastic opportunity to show what amazing materials you can make from the forest. We hope to inspire the visitors and get a new generation interested in the research area”, says Linda Fogelström, who has coordinated the WWSC contributions.

The following materials with WWSC research and researchers involved are parts of the exhibition:

Exchanging ideas and challenging what’s possible – the way from the initial contact to the final exhibited items have been inspiring for the involved researchers.

“Working with the museum has been really fun and has confirmed that what we are doing is of interest to a broader audience. We have presented different examples of what we do, and the museum did the selection and presentation of the materials. And it turned out great!” says Linda.

The exhibition the Forest is open during the museum’s ordinary opening hours and is included in the admission fee. There will also be talks and discussions in connection to the exhibition. More information is found at www.tekniskamuseet.se/kampanj/skogen/

There are more materials with connection to WWSC at the exhibition! The start-up Reselo, which makes sustainable rubber out of birch bark, is also featured!
