WWSC researcher co-author of EPNOE Polysacharide roadmap

Tiina Nypelö, associate professor at Chalmers and Aalto University, is one of the authors to the European Polysaccharide Network of Excellence (EPNOE) research roadmap 2040: Advanced strategies for exploiting the vast potential of polysaccharides as renewable bioresources.
EPNOE roadmap

The EPNOE roadmap is addressed to academic researchers, companies, as well as policymakers to address the most relevant scientific questions around sustainable solutions of biomass and polysaccharides.

The joint effort of compiling the roadmap gathered over 20 high-level scientists from 13 European countries, of which the WWSC member Tiina Nypelö was one.

The resulting report was first launched at an event in January 2023, and in the end of 2023 the roadmap was published in the scientific journal Carbohydrate Polymers.

The roadmap covers five strategic areas that are of great importance in the context of polysaccharide-related research: (I) Materials & Engineering, (II) Food & Nutrition, (III) Biomedical Applications, (IV) Chemistry, Biology & Physics, and (V) Skills & Education.
