Welcome to Wallenberg Wood Science Center

Wallenberg Wood Science Center is a research center with a focus on new materials from trees. The center creates knowledge and builds competence that has the potential to form the basis for an innovative future value creation from forest raw material.

WWSC is a joint research center and collaboration between KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Chalmers University of Technology and Linköping University. The base is a donation from Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. The forest industry is supporting WWSC via the national platform Treesearch.

Wallenberg Wood Science Center started in 2009, and the aim is to develop new materials from Sweden’s forests as a complement to traditional uses, such as timber and paper.

WWSC is Sweden’s largest research initiative in the area of new materials from wood. In the coming period (2019 – 2028), the funding of the center is more than 700 MSEK, of which Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation is supporting the center with up to 400 MSEK.
