Welcome to Wallenberg Wood Science Center

Wallenberg Wood Science Center is a research center with a focus on new materials from trees. The center creates knowledge and builds competence that has the potential to form the basis for an innovative future value creation from forest raw material.

WWSC is a joint research center and collaboration between KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Chalmers University of Technology. The base is a donation from Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.

The Center started in 2009, and the aim is to develop new materials from Sweden’s forests as a complement to traditional uses, where the forest is turned into timber and paper.

The Center has the vision of becoming a world leader in the research field of new materials from trees.
